L&B Auto Repair receives Top Shop award

Bellevue, WA - AAA Washington awarded L&B Auto Repair their "Top Shop" award for 2000. Top Shop awards are based on an automotive facility's return rate and overall score from AAA customer satisfaction surveys. It also reflects a facility's responsiveness to customer concerns as expressed in the survey card.

AAA Washington calculates the information from all returned survey cards internally. The resulting score indicates if an AAA approved automotive facility, like L&B, qualifies for the Top Shop award. L&B scored in the top 10 category for independent automotive repair facilities.

Berg receives Master Technician certification

Snohomish, WA - Perry Berg of L&B Auto Repair in Snohomish, Wash., received his Master Technician certification this month from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Master Technician is the highest level of certification that a technician can receive in the automotive service profession.

Through ASE, Master Technicians take 24 tests on automotive diagnostics and repair administered by American College Testing. These exams are grouped into eight specialties and focus on real-world diagnostic and repair issues - not theory. Approximately one out of three test takers fails. Certification is not for life. ASE technicians must be retested every five years in order to keep up with changing technology and to remain in the ASE program.

Berg, his wife Maryann and their two sons live near L&B in Snohomish. Berg has worked for L&B since 1997. He has more than 20 years in the automotive service industry. Before joining L&B, Berg specialized in brake and alignment repairs. As an ASE certified Master Technician, Berg will specialize in general diagnostic and repair for all automotive vehicles, recreational vehicles, heavy machinery, and diesel engines.

ASE was developed in 1972 in response to congressional hearings. ASE's mission is to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. ASE operates as a non-profit organization, independent of outside funding, operating solely on resources generated from registration and test fees.
